i caught a report on the on the radio this morning about the Doomsday Clock, and the bunch of people who meet every so often and decide the level of risk the world is facing on the nought to total oblivion scale: measured and recorded in the number of minutes to midnight.

okay.

seven minutes to midnight is the closest we've come thus far, both in 1949 and 2002 (in response to September 11th 2001 - er, slowish response that....)

and then remembering....
